Osinbajo Allays Fear Over Today’s Poll

Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has assured the electorate in Ogun State of adequate security during the Today governorship and National Assembly election.

The VP said there would be no room for violence during the polls which he described as a special one towards the progress and development of the state.

He said those threatening violence during the polls would have the security forces to contend with, noting the FG would provide adequate security cover for the voters.


Elections: Police Read Riot Act To Politicians In Zamfara

The Police Command in Zamfara has warned politicians against violating the Electoral Act 2010, as amended, during Today Governorship and State Assembly elections.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Celestine Okoye, gave the warning at the signing of Peace/Undertaking Accord by governorship candidates in the election in the state.

He said politicians should restrain their supporters from doing anything that would cause violence during and after the exercise.


Buhari Arrives In Daura Ahead Today’s Governorship, State Assembly Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived his home town of Daura ahead of the Governorship and State Assembly elections scheduled for Today, March 9.

The President was received by the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar, his kinsmen, and hundreds of well-wishers.

Also, the President’s wife, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, is to host a Thanksgiving dinner for women and youth organizations in Daura.


Elections: Soji Akanbi Visits Olubadan, Solicits Support Of Traditional Hierarchy For APC

Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi, representing the Oyo South senatorial district, has visited the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, and the representatives of Mogajis’, to pay homage and solicit support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of Today, March 9, governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Senator Akanbi, had, since his rejoining the APC last week, been saddled with the task of keeping to the promise he made to the leadership of the APC with regards to ensuring reconciliation with disgruntled people of Oyo State especially Ibadan people to ensure success at the polls on Today for APC.


Elections: Omisore Aligns Accord Party With APC In Osun

Senator Iyiola Omisore has facilitated the coming together of the Accord Party (AP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, to further brighten the chances of the party for victory in the March 9 House of Assembly elections in the state.

The deal was sealed during a meeting Omisore had with the Accord Party chairman in Osun State, Hon Ayodele Fanibe, who was also the party’s House of Reps candidate for Ife Federal constituency in the last election.

At the meeting held in Ile-Ife. Omisore, who was the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the last governorship election in Osun State, together with the Accord Party’s leadership, agreed to work for the success of APC at the forthcoming election and to continue to see himself as a member of the party APC.


BREAKING: Fire Guts INEC Office In Akwa Ibom

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Akwa Ibom State has been gutted by fire, less than 24 hours to the governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The immediate cause of fire at the INEC office located at Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the state, remains unknown, but information had it that the fire started around 2:00 a.m. early Friday morning.

Sensitive election materials, including card readers were said to have been destroyed by the fire.

The Senior Apostle of the Passion of The Cross of Jesus Ministries, Senior Apostle Matthew Idongesit, has predicted a loss for the incumbent Governor of Akwa Ibom State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate of the PDP, Emmanuel Udom, in Today’s governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

The respected cleric, while speaking at his church auditorium in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, said it was shown to him in his meditations, after a seven-day fast to seek the face of God concerning the elections on the 9th or March.


Bauchi Elections: PDP Alleges Plan To Arrest Its Governorship Candidate

Ahead of the governorship and Assembly elections coming up today, the Bauchi State chapter of the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged that in its “desperate move to win the election,” the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is planning to use security agencies to arrest the party’s candidate, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, and put him under house arrest until after the election.

The PDP Chairman, Hamza Koshe Akuyam warned that, “if the security operatives go ahead to allow this to happen, they will know that the PDP has large supporters in the state” and also pointed out that so far over 100 of their supporters have been arrested with some of them released on bail.


No Plans To Arrest Bauchi PDP Governorship Candidate — Police Commissioner

Bauchi State Police Command has denied the allegations by the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that there is a grand plan to arrest and place its governorship candidate, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, under house arrest til after the governorship and State Assembly elections coming up Today, March 9.

While reacting to the allegations, the State Police Commissioner, Ali Aji Janga said that the allegation is baseless and unfounded saying, “how can we arrest a candidate standing election for doing nothing? The Command does not have that plan, all we want is peaceful conduct of the election, even more, peaceful than the last one.”


Plateau REC Tells Head Of Operation To Step Aside

Plateau State INEC Head of Operations, Mr Kundu Yagba has been asked to step aside for Today’s gubernatorial election following the discovery of electoral materials in his procession.

A source close to the Commission in Jos revealed that Yagba was asked to step aside after the police intercepted INEC results sheets and collation materials in his possession and was said to have allegedly removed the electoral materials from the Jos office of CBN in questionable circumstances before he was caught by the police.
