– The Nigerian Prison Service now to be known as Nigerian Correctional Service as President Buhari signs new bill into law
According to a latest report President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the new act that repeal the Prisons act. Following the president assent, the Nigerian Prison Service is now to be known as the Nigerian Correctional Service.
A Twitter handle belonging to the Federal Government also confirmed the report, its read,
“President Muhammadu Buhari has given assent to the Nigerian Correctional Service Bill, 2019. The new Act repeals the Prisons Act and changes the name of the Nigerian Prisons Service to the Nigerian Correctional Service.”
Earlier on today, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, had made the announcement known to State House correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday.
The change is expected to take immediate effect.
