Gomes Moved To Tears After Watford Reach FA Semi-Final

Watford goalie, Huerelho Gomes couldn’t hide his emotions as his side made it to the FA Cup semis to be play at Wembley. The 38-yr-old was recalled into the Starting XI for his club’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace but the impressive form of Ben Foster could limit Gomes’ chance of standing in between the sticks for the Hornets.

Gomes who is set to leave after five years appeared emotional and close to tears at the final whistle having been instrumental to the kind of Watford team that now plies their trade in the Premier League.

He told their official website: “It was very emotional, as it can be in my last game. It’s been like this for a long, long time, since I joined the club in 2014, so I want to thank the supporters once again.

“It’s very special, the cup and Wembley stadium. We can dream about going further; this is a big possibility for us. We need to focus on the league now, but it’s a possibility to start thinking about the semi-finals. We can finish the season well at Wembley too.”

It was Etienne Capoue who got the lead for the Hornets before Andre Gray capitalized on an error to get the second but just before that it was Michy Batshuayi who got the equalizer for Crystal Palace.

Luka Milivojevic, captain of Crystal Palace described Andre Gray’s goal concession as giving away a cheap goal.

Here’s what Luka had to say about the goal.

“We conceded a very cheap goal in the second half that put us down,” he told Palace’s official website.

“Most of the second half we controlled. We had possession and we controlled, we played the most of the second half in their half of the pitch.”

The Eagles are only few places above relegation battle having conceded three defeats from their last four games
