Hudson-Odoi Inspires Chelsea To Record An All-Important Win Against Malmo

Maurizio Sarriā€™s days at the Bridge seemed liked it was all going to be over until a Hudson-Odoi inspired Chelsea saved him the blushes by defeating Malmo with a comfortable margin.

The Italian gaffer who has come under fire from fans and players in recent times made some changes to his team that caught lots of people by surprise. Sarri had been criticized by players, fans and pundits alike for being too rigid in his play, a similar attribute with former manager, Jose Mourinho.

The former Napoli manager opted to start Hudson-Odoi and drop midfielder, Jorginho on the bench, so much for that change that the latter was booed by Chelsea fans at the start of the match

For the first thirty minutes, the London Blues were unable to string good passes between the middle of the park and the final third so much so that Sarri must have been tempted to say it was as a result of the absence of his favoured midfielder, Jorginho.

It is fair to also mention that the likes of Hazard and Higuain were also dropped to the bench as seven changes were made to the Starting XI that faced Manchester City in the league.

Chelsea proved the stuff they were made of when Giroud tapped in a Willain delivery to give the home side the lead on 55 minutes.

Malmo were reduced to 10-men when one of their men were given an early shower and Chelsea soon all but sure sealed their victory.

Ross Barkley converted from a direct free kick to ensure a comfortable lead. The Bridge went up in flames when 18-yr-old loved youngster Hudson-Odoi converted after receiving a long full flighted cross from Willian who was having a really spectacular night.

Hudson drove into the box unmarked but had to move drive through an arriving backline to slot the ball into the far left corner.
