Lagos State Governments says there is no Public Holiday on Friday

– The Lagos State Government in a new statement has disclosed that there is no public holiday on Friday

– It, however, disclosed that students of private and public schools are expected to go on their midterm break which included Friday

According to the latest report, the Lagos State Government has come out to refute the claim that it had declared Friday, 8th of March as a public holiday for civil servants.

A report had gone viral on Social Media, which suggested that Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State had declared Friday a public holiday to enable civil servants prepare for the 2019 Governorship and State Assembly Election, which is slated to take place on Saturday, the 9th of March.

However, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, in a statement on behalf of the state Government declared that civil servants are expected to be at their various duty posts across the state on Friday, and disregard every other information to the contrary.

Mr. Bamigbetan also emphasized on an earlier announcement made by the State’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Mrs. Idiat Adebule, which she disclosed that all public and private schools in the State are expected to proceed on the 2nd Mid-Term Break on Thursday, 7 and Friday 8 March, 2019.

They are however, expected to resume academic activities on Monday, March 11, 2019 in accordance with the revised School Calendar for 2018/2019 Academic Year.

This statement means normal activities will take place in Lagos State on Friday except for school children, who will be observing their mid-term holiday.

The 2019 Governorship and State Assembly Elections are only a few days away and Lagos State like some other states in the country will be actively involved as they elect a new Governor to replace the incumbent Gov., Akinwunmi Ambode.
