1. Man Loses Eye in Quest to Win Lotto

A 27 year-old man has lost an eye in his quest to use spiritual powers to win lotto.

The victim, Emmanuel Okachi, had gone to an herbalist who gave him an unknown substance to drink and rob on his eyes.

The substance was supposed to give him spiritual eyes to see winning numbers, but the reverse became the case as Emmanuel lost one of his eyes in the herbal experiment.

A friend of the victim, Osita Uzoka said on Sunday in Ogwashi-Uku that the incident occurred on Jan. 12, 2019.

2. Look Beyond 2019, Bakare Tells Buhari, Atiku, Others

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Presiding Pastor, Latter Rain Assembly, has warned the presidential candidates of political parties to look beyond the 2019 elections and place the interest of the nation above their political interests.

Bakare, who is also the Convener of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG), gave this advice in Lagos on Sunday while delivering the 2019 State of the Nation Address in his church.

3. APC Reacts to Obasanjo’s Attack on Buhari, FG

The APC has lambasted former president Olusegun Obasanjo over his latest attack on President Muhammadu Buhari and the FG.

Addressing a press conference Sunday evening in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said during Obasanjo’s regime, government policies were determined by whatever mood Obasanjo was in and all decisions of government were subjected to his whims.

He said: “When you are used to a particular thing that means something you know how to do very well.

4. Gunmen Attack Catholic Seminary in Adamawa

Hundreds of gunmen have attacked Bare, a community in Numan LGA of Adamawa State.

Reports say they razed houses and structures, including a Catholic seminary in the community.

Witnesses said the attackers were herdsmen, and that this latest incident would be a continuation of past similar attacks over grazing land that made many residents to flee the community.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Yola, Stephen Mamza confirmed the destruction of the Catholic Seminary, and said security agents did not respond in time.

5. Obasanjo Dares Buhari to Arrest Him

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Sunday, announced to President Buhari’s government that he was not scared of arrest.

He vowed to continue to speak against the ills of the APC despite the “intimidation”.

In a lengthy statement by Obasanjo’s media team on Sunday, Obasanjo said he also got information about cabal in the government.

“Maybe I should remind those who are using probe as a threat that I have been probed four times by EFCC, ICPC, House of Representatives and the Senate and Buhari has access to reports of these probes.

He also challenged President Buhari and the “criminals around him” to set up a probe on him and he will face such probe in public.

6. Nigeria to Set Up National Blind Football Team

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports through the Para-Athletics Federation of Nigeria, has concluded arrangements to set up a National blind football team.

The team will be known as Star Eagles.

National President of Para-Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Dr. Geoffrey Ogu made this known at the Nnamdi Azikiwe sports stadium Enugu, during a 4 -day national blind football trial in Enugu.

7. ASUU Says FG Must Release N50b for Strike to End

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Sunday said the FG must release N50billion revitalisation fund for it to consider suspending the ongoing strike.

Another condition attached to the suspension of the on-going strike is the presentation of concrete evidences of the payment of promised N20billion earned academic allowances and showing how the balance of N85billion will be paid with timelines.

ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi stated this on Sunday in Ibadan while speaking to newsmen.

According to him, only concrete evidences of implementation by the government would make them return to the classrooms.

8. Keke, Okada Riders not Available Thugs

The Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle, Owners, Repairers and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) during a convention over the weekend said its members are not available as thugs for politicians in the coming 2019 elections.

The Association also say it’s over 10 million members nationwide will only support a candidate who has the interest to empower its members.

The President of the Association, Babangida Maihula said the leadership of the union is sensitizing its members nationwide not to engage in activities that are inimical to the growth of Nigeria.

9. Enugu Rangers Qualify For 2019 CAF Confederation Cup

Enugu Rangers will feature in the money-spinning group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after successfully eliminating Bantu FC of Lesotho in a 4-2 win on Sunday.

Rangers first featured at this stage of the competition in 2004.

The draw for the group stage will be staged tomorrow in Cairo, Egypt.

10. Deeper Life Ordered toPay Celestial Church N5M

The judgment of a Lagos High Court has ordered Deeper Christian Life Ministry to pay N5m.

The said order of N5m is for damages for trespassing on a parcel of land belonging to the Celestial Church of Christ, CCC.

The said judgment was also upheld by the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos.

CCC had sued Deeper Life Church over the disputed land situated at Mulero, Agege, Lagos on January 17 2014.

The Lagos High Court declared the CCC as the rightful owner of the land and awarded N5 million as damages against Deeper Life Church.
