Mother and Son Beat Father to Death in Niger State

The Niger state police command have apprehended a 25-year-old son identified as Babangida Usman and his mother also identified as Hafasat Aliyu for beating their father/Husband, Ali Haruna, to death at their home in  Shango Primary School Minna in Chanchaga local government area of Niger state.

Reports emanating from the Police reveals that Haruna and his wife Hafasat, got involved in a fight after she accused their daughter of stealing her money.

Haruna, the father, was on the daughter’s side and this made his wife, Hafasat, angry and thereby engaged him in a fight.

Usman, on hearing the news of his father and mother fighting, he ran home and while defending his mother, joined her in beating his father which led to the father sustaining serious injuries.

Meanwhile, Haruna died while he was being rushed to the IBB Specialist Hospital for treatment to be carried out

While speaking to journalists, Usman stated that he was only protecting his mother and did not know it will lead to the death of his father.

Usman further said that his father was always maltreating his mother over things that should not cause quarrel. He said:

“that was why I always protect my mother from maltreatment of my father.

“My mother is not safe with my father because of his temperament, everyday there must be an issue that would escalate to fight. I never knew he would die, I was only protecting my mother.”

Confirming the incident was the spokesperson of the Niger state police command identified as Mohammad Abubakar, saying that the suspects had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court soon.
