Naira Marley: Why He’s Still In Jail

— Nigerian singer, Naira Marley is still in jail which has raised the question, why is he still there if he has been granted bail?

Naira Marley’s bail application was approved on May 30th with a condition that he provides two sureties.

1. One of the surety must must be on Grade Level 10 in the Federal or State employment.

2. Another surety must have a landed property within the court jurisdiction

However, according to a twitter user, Naira Marley is yet to get a surety.

“Naira Marley can’t get a level 10 officer to stand for him as surety. Where are all the marlians? If your parents are level 10 officer tell them to go and stand for him ?” He tweeted.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Journalist, Kemi Olunloyo who has been supporting Naira Marley since the beginning of the case said otherwise.

She said on her YouTube channel that Naira Marley hasn’t been released because the judges are yet to verify his sureties. She stated that she’s in touch with one of Naira Marley’s lawyer and they have the sureties but are yet to be verified by the court.

Before he can be released, the court have to approve and verify his sureties, the journalist explained. However, due to the holidays, they haven’t verified it, thus Naira Marley would remain there until his sureties are verified.
