Nigeria and Uganda Play a Goalless draw in Asaba

The Nigerian football team, The Super Eagles and the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday played a goalless draw in an international friendly played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State Nigeria.

Though Nigeria created the better chances, the Cranes of Uganda held their own as they ensured that the game ended without a winner.

Both sides started the game well with a number of attempts at goal but neither could manage a goal in from of the spectators.

The Super Eagles had more of the ball though, notching a percentage possession of 63 percent, compared with Uganda’s 37 percent.
Although that wasnt enough as they failed to score a single goal.

The game was not with some action from Uganda as they also had their own fair chances but they wasted their opportunities just like their hosts

After the interval, the Eagles continued to search for the elusive goal and Coach Gernot Rohr opted to bring in William Ekong, Samuel Kalu and Isaac Success

Samuel Chuwueze was a standout performer as his left foot was a delight to watch.

Kalu, Micahel Agu and Isaac Success also tested the defenders and goalkeeper with some chances, but the Cranes kept their shape to hold out for a deserved goalless draw.

Big guns like Odion Ighalo, Mikel Obi and Francis Uzoho were missing from the match as they were also missing for the last qualifying series.

In the end, Nigeria failed to avenge their last defeat to Uganda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium as it ended 0-0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

The Super Eagles have qualified for the AFCON 2019 competition in Cameroon and so have the Ugandans. This is just a warm up game for the final match in the qualifying series in March. Nigeria plays Seychelles while Uganda plays Tanzania.
