Nigerian Army to sanction any officer caught in election malpractice
– The Nigerian Army has vowed to sanction any of it officer that engages in election malpractice
– According to the statement, the military noted that it will remain professional and apolitical in the coming 2019 General Election
The Chief Of Army Staff COAS Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai was represented at the Nigerian Army Corps Signal in Lagos State yesterday by Major.-Gen Enobong Udoh, where he inaugurated some new building during the corps reunion party.
COAS Tukur Buratai in his statement at the gathering made it known that the Nigerian Army will sanction any of it officer caught in election malpractice.
The statement read that any officer found culpable of any election act will face the full wrath of the Armed Forces Act.
He declared that the Nigerian Military will remain apolitical in the coming election as he urged all military officers to be professional during the election.
The statement further ordered all military officers to report any unwholesome activities in their location during the election to their superiors once it is beyond their power of command.

Below is an extract of the statement released on behalf of the COAS Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai by Major.-Gen Enobong Udoh, it read,
“All officers and soldiers must remain apolitical and exhibit exceptional professionalism in the forthcoming tasks.
“You must report any unwholesome activities up the chain of command once it is beyond your powers of command.
“The full weight of the Armed Forces Act will be visited on any personnel found culpable of committing any electoral malpractice.”
This statement is coming after some political parties had alleged that the Federal Government had connived with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and the security agencies to rig the forthcoming election.
