Osimhen Is Confident Of All Three Points Against Ajax

Victor Osimhen is confident that his French side, Lille will get off to a flying start when they take on Ajax in Amsterdam on Tuesday.

The Nigerian admitted that the Eredivise giants would be a tough nut to crack. He is however optimistic that the Great Danes can grab all maximum points away from home.

The Ligue 1 side will kick off their 2019-20 Uefa Champions League campaign against last year’s semi finalists on Tuesday and the young striker is aiming to make his debut in the competition as well.

The forward has enjoyed a fine start to the season in the Ligue 1 since making a switch to Sporting Charleroi in July. Since then, he has recorded five goals in his first five games.

“We feel good. We have some strong individuals, but above all, we have a team,” Osimhen told Ligue 1 website.

“We’re going to play a big club, they’ll be difficult to play, but we have what it takes to win it. We’re going there to win.”

The Nigerian striker was brought into the French outfit as a direct replacement from Nicolas Pepe who made a £72million switch to Arsenal. He has since justified that move with his excellent goalscoring form this season.

Osimhen said that his present form was as a result of his hardwork for the past years. He thereafter singled out two players who have helped him settle well at the Ligue 1 club.

“I’ve been working hard for the last three years, I’ve had setbacks in my career, in my life, but this proves work pays,” the 20-year-old added.

“I’ve always had in mind to repay the club’s confidence, and the coach’s. Even before coming here, I had my mindset on that. I have come to a big league, a big team.

“The other players, like the established players such as Jose Fonte and Benjamin André, do all they can to make me feel good, to help me settle in. I’d be nothing without them.”
