Reactions: NYSC Suspends Ongoing Orientation Course

Reactions have continued to trail the suspension of three weeks’ ongoing mandatory orientation course of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

With three cases confirmed in Nigeria, most of the people who had likely come in contact with the two direct indexes are yet to be identified and they are yet to come forward for quarantine.

In order not to take any risk with people’s health, the management of the scheme took the decision to suspend the ongoing programme for Batch A, stream one corps members nationwide, adding that corps members would be invited back to the orientation camps when the situation improves.

The Management in a statement issued by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the NYSC, Adenike Adeyemi on Wednesday morning in Abuja said corps members would be posted to commence their primary assignments forthwith.

The President had on Tuesday ordered the cancellation of the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Edo in order to curtail the spread of the virus.
