Reactions: NYSC Suspends Ongoing Orientation Course
Reactions have continued to trail the suspension of three weeks’ ongoing mandatory orientation course of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
With three cases confirmed in Nigeria, most of the people who had likely come in contact with the two direct indexes are yet to be identified and they are yet to come forward for quarantine.
In order not to take any risk with people’s health, the management of the scheme took the decision to suspend the ongoing programme for Batch A, stream one corps members nationwide, adding that corps members would be invited back to the orientation camps when the situation improves.

The Management in a statement issued by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the NYSC, Adenike Adeyemi on Wednesday morning in Abuja said corps members would be posted to commence their primary assignments forthwith.
The President had on Tuesday ordered the cancellation of the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Edo in order to curtail the spread of the virus.

With no corp member infected with the virus, it has been a talking point in the Twitter community. See some of the reactions below.
I honestly believe all nysc Corps Members should be left in camp, at this moment it is quite safer for them. Movement in and out the camp can be controlled.
Now risk of contacting the virus is high because of everyone will intend to travel.#nysc #COVID19

NYSC has shut down orientation camps nationwide due to the Corona pandemic. They shouldn’t have even gone in the first place. #nysc

Best believe the days you spend in the #Nysc camp are the only fun days in the entire service year.

NYSC camp can’t be fun to everyone. Some people can conveniently have fun despite the rigorous exercises while some can’t even withstand the whole tasks, so stop saying the #nysc camp is the interesting part.
If camp has to be suspended to save people, then it’s a smart decision

The truth is that we’re not safe even outside the #nysc camp.
