Ronaldo Quarantines On Learning Of Rugani Testing Positive To Coronavirus

According to emerging reports, Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has quarantined himself on hearing about a teammate who tested positive to the Coronavirus.

The five-time Balon D’Or winner last featured for the Biaconeris on Sunday when his side thumped InterMilan in a 2-0 win. The forward was pantomiming handshakes with fans as he arrived the empty stadium, with the encounter played behind closed doors.

Few days later (Wednesday), Juventus defender  Rugani was tested positive to the virus and subsequently isolated. The fringe player with the Italian outfit was shown huddling up for a celebratory photo with the rest of his teammates, including a shirtless Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was in his hometown of Madeira in Portugal with his mother when they announcement was made. According to a report by New York Post  he will be staying put in Italy after self-isolating himself.

Juventus previously announced the infection of their defender, Rugani who contracted COVID-19.

“Juventus Football Club is currently activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including those who have had contact with him,” the statement read.

The Serie A giants had previously trained early on Wednesday. However, it remains unclear whether Rugani was a part of that training exercise. Another Serie A giant in Inter Milan announced that their matches would be suspended till further notice.

“The Club is currently taking steps to put all the necessary procedures into place.”

An outbreak of the virus has brought about a shutdown in Italy in regards to Sports with Italian football leagues not set to resume earlier than April 3.

However, Juventus are scheduled to take on Lyon next week Tuesday. It is however unclear whether that fixture would hold as scheduled.
