Senegal Throw Nigeria Out Of U-20 World Cup Competition

Senegal have dumped the Nigerian U-20 team from the ongoing U-20 World Cup going on in Poland.

The Flying Eagles were sent packing from the competition after losing to their Senegalese counterparts by a 2-1 scoreline in the round of 16 fixture played on Monday night.

The West African derby lived up to its billing in what was a keenly contested game at the Lodz Stadium.

The Young Terrnaga Lions went into the break two goals up against Paul Aigbogun’s men with the goals from Amadou Sagna and Ibrahima Niane.

Amadou Sagna broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a low, right footed shot before Ibrahim Niane doubled the lead going into the break.

Aniekeme Okon pulled one back for the Nigerian team but that couldn’t do more than a consolation ago as the Flying Eagles failed to find the back of the net again.

The Flying Eagles had a fantastic start to the second half of the encounter, scoring just five minutes after the break. From a freekick just outside the box, Success Makanjuola sent in a cross left on the ball with the ball finding the feet of eventual goalscorer, Aniekeme Okon who flicked in an easy goal.

The Terranga Lions of Senegal are now poised to face the winner of the tie between Japan and South Korea in the quarter finals of the competition.
