– Sen. Rochas Okorocha has stated that the rotation of power will not get to the South East unless they mend fences

– He said this after he was sworn in as a Senator Today by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan

After a long wait, Imo State former Governor, Rochas Okorocha was sworn in Today as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

Rochas Okorocha in a statement with the press after his swearing-in declared that the rotation of power will not get to the South East, he further told the people from the region to abandon the hopes of getting the top posts in the country in future.

Sen. Okorocha stated that the rotation of power will not get to the South-east because, “Power is not given, power is taken.”

The Imo State Senator added that “The South East cannot just fold their arms and expect power to be given to them just because you want power. Power does not go with sentiment some of the times, it’s on issues on the ground.

“Democracy is about the people and the South East alone cannot make themselves president. So you cannot be talking about Igbo presidency, it doesn’t exist. We may be talking about Nigeria’s president of Igbo extraction but that depends on what other geopolitical zones think about the issue.”

He disclosed that the only way the South East can remain relevant politically is to mend fences across the country because the region is not in the ruling party or making an impact on the opposition.

There is a need for the Igbo to mend fences. We are neither here nor there politically. We are not in the ruling party or are we making an impact on the opposition. So, there is a need for us to get married to the rest of the nation politically.’

At the moment, the South East doesn’t have a candidate holding any top office in the country.
