1. Sony Music Drops R. Kelly Over Sexual Abuse Scandal

Famous American multiple Grammy Award winner, Robert Sylvester Kelly, stage name, R. Kelly has been dropped by his Record Label, Sony Music.

According to reports, the artiste who is currently facing series of allegation of abduction, sexual abuse and exploitation was dropped by the record label on Friday, Jan.18.

Sony’s move comes after years of public calls, and even a petition from members of the #MuteRKelly Movement, for the company to part ways with him.

2. Trump Attacks Top Democrat for Rejecting Mexico Wall Deal

US President Donald Trump verbally attacked a top Democrat, Nancy Pelosi on Sunday after she rejected a deal on immigration and the Mexico border wall that would end a 30-day-old government shutdown.

Pelosi, speaker of the House of Representatives, on Saturday called Trump’s offer of temporary protections for about a million immigrants in return for $5.7 billion to fund the wall a “non-starter.”

“Nancy Pelosi has behaved so irrationally & has gone so far to the left that she has now officially become a Radical Democrat,” Trump tweeted. “She is so petrified of the ‘lefties’ in her party that she has lost control.”

…And by the way, clean up the streets in San Francisco, they are disgusting!” he added, in a seemingly gratuitous aside.

Pelosi is from San Francisco.

3. Eight UN Peacekeepers Killed in Mali

Gunmen killed at least eight Chadian UN peacekeepers in an attack Sunday on one of their bases in northern Mali, multiple sources reported.

The UN spokesman in Mali condemned what he described as a vile and cowardly attack and called for a “robust” response.

The attack happened early Sunday at the Aguelhok base 200 kilometres (125 miles) north of Kidal and towards the border with Algeria, the source added.

A diplomat in northern Mali said that several of the attackers had also been killed.

4. Rob Kardashian is Dating Again!

Rob Kardashian is ready to give love a go once again as it has been officially confirmed that he is seeing someone new.

The Kardashian Male had been involved in a messy split from his baby mama, Blac Chyna last year.

The Kardashian and “Love & Hip-Hop” star, Alexis Skyy has been confirmed to be dating.

The pair was first linked publicly last week after the “Keeping up with the Kardashians” star posted a photo of Skyy on his Instagram and declared her his “Woman Crush Wednesday”.

On Friday, things took an even more interesting turn when Skyy while responding to a question about her relationship with Rob said: “To answer your question, I love Rob.”

5. DRC Court Declares Tshisekedi President

DR Congo’s top court had on Sunday declared Felix Tshisekedi president after disputed elections, outraging opponents who alleged a stitch-up as an African Union delegation prepared to head to the volatile country.

Announcing the final results of the much-delayed poll, the Constitutional Court threw out a legal challenge by runner-up Martin Fayulu.

It declared Tshisekedi the winner, paving the way for him to take over from long-term leader Joseph Kabila.

6. Madagascar’s New leader Vows to Combat Widespread Corruption

Madagascar’s new president has been sworn in and vows to establish independent bodies to combat the Indian Ocean island nation’s widespread corruption.

Andry Rajoelina, who led the country from 2009 to 2014 in a transitional government after a military coup, told a crowd in the capital on Saturday that for the first time since independence Madagascar is seeing a peaceful, democratic transfer of power between two elected leaders.

7. Serena Consoles Dayana Yastremska after Demolition

Serena Williams produced one of the most heartwarming moments of the Australian Open following her third-round victory over Dayana Yastremska on Saturday.

Williams put on a typically impressive performance as she powered past her Ukrainian opponent, giving away just three games in the process.

When the pair embraced at the net, Yastremska burst into tears as the reality of her crushing defeat sank in.

Serena Williams is used to dominating her competition at the Australian Open, but showed once again she was a magnanimous winner when she took the time to console her Ukrainian opponent who became overwhelmed after suffering a heavy defeat.

“I could tell she was quite upset. I kind of liked that. It shows she wasn’t just there to play a good match – she was there to win. She wanted to win. That really broke my heart,” Williams said. “I think she’s a good talent. It’s good to see that attitude.”

8. Greek Protesters March Against Macedonia Name Change Deal

A protest was held in the Greek port city of Thessaloniki on Sunday, against Greece’s name change deal with neighboring Macedonia.

The demonstration took place as Macedonians voted in a referendum on whether to change their country’s name on the basis of the bilateral agreement.

The Greek and Macedonian governments recently reached a deal on the decades-old dispute over the official naming of ‘Macedonia.’

If the deal is accepted by those voting in Sunday’s referendum, the Balkan republic’s name would change from The Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia (FYROM) to the Republic of North Macedonia, bearing a similar name to a region in Greece.

9. World’s Oldest Man, Born before the Invention of Radio, Dies at 113

The world’s oldest man has died at his home in northern Japan at the age of 113.

The family of Masazo Nonaka said he died in the early hours of Sunday while sleeping at his home, a hot springs inn, in Ashoro on Japan’s northern main island of Hokkaido.

The family said he died peacefully from natural causes.

The supercentenarian, whose family has run a hot springs inn for four generations, was certified last year as the world’s oldest living man at 112 years and 259 days.

10. Toddler Surrenders to Police During Arrest of Parents

Footage has gone viral of the moment a barefooted toddler walked towards armed police with her hands up after officers pulled over a couple of suspected shoplifters in Florida.

One witness captured the incident on their mobile phone, which shows the young girl, two, emerging from a pickup truck and making her way up the road as if she was surrendering.

Police said they were arresting shoplifting suspects at the time and that the parents of the girl were among them.
