1. Stop Campaigning for Buhari, Atiku-Obi Campaign Organization Warns Gov. Obiano

The Atiku-Obi Campaign Organization, Anambra State chapter has warned Governor Obiano of Anambra State to stop his subtle campaign for President Muhammad Buhari.

A statement by the State Director of the organization, Dr Harry Oranezi described the alleged actions of the governor as “the fangled development of the South East Geo-political zone.

2. FG Orders CJN Onnoghen to Vacate Office Immediately

The President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government has ordered the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen to vacate his office as the Chief Justice of Nigeria with immediate effect.

Following that order, the government has also filed a charge against him for not declaring his assets and for also operating domiciliary foreign currency accounts which are alleged to be contrary to relevant laws, especially for public office holders.

According to reports, the FG has concluded arrangements to arraign him on Monday January 14, 2019 before the Justice Danladi Yakubu led-Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja.

According to reports, Justice Nnoghen may be the first CJN in Nigeria to be arraigned for criminal charges by the Federal Government.

3. Ohanaeze Ndigbo Tells Ndigbo Who to Vote

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, on Saturday announced a guideline for people of the South East to determine who to vote for in the forthcoming elections.

Chuks Ibegbu, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo said Ohanaeze will vote for any candidate who believes in the restructuring of Nigeria.

Ibegbu said Nigeria was in dire need of restructuring because the current set up of Nigeria is against the people of the South East.

He added, “If Ezekwesili, Hashim and other presidential candidates are ready to restructure Nigeria, we will support them.”

4. Yoruba Deserves 2023 Presidency, Igbos Not Serious – Amaechi

A First Republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazurike Amaechi, has aired his view about Igbo Presidency in 2023.

According to him, power is not given on a platter of gold and the Igbo people have been indifferent over the prospects of producing the next President in 2023.

Amaechi told New Telegraph in Awka, Anambra State yesterday that the South West has shown stronger interest in the position.

In his words, “The Yorubas are serious about this and they are working hard to get it and I expect our people in Igbo land to work hard and show seriousness”.

“If tomorrow the position goes to the South West we do not have anybody to blame because they deserve it going by the way they are fighting the agenda.”

5. Buhari Govt. Filed Onnoghen’s Criminal Charges within Four Days

According to a Daily Post report, the process that led to planned the arraignment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen was concluded within four days.

The process which started on Monday 7th January 2019 include petition writing on 7th, petition submission on 8th , charge filing on 10th  and serving on the 11th.

The charges against him were for failing to declare his assets upon resumption of office and maintaining domiciliary foreign currencies account which comprised Dollars Account, Pound Sterling Account and Euro Account which are alleged to be contrary to relevant laws, especially for public office holders.

The CJN account balances were listed as follows: The Standard Chartered Bank dollar account 1062650 with a balance of $391,401.28 on January 31, 2011;

The Standard Chartered Bank Euro account 5001062686 with a balance of EURO 49,971 .71 on January 31, 2011;

The Standard Chartered Bank pound sterling account 5001062679 with a balance of GBP23, 409.66 on February 28, 2011.

6. Why Buhari Govt. Wants to Arraign CJN Onnoghen on Criminal Charges – Secondus

National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus has aired his opinion on why the ruling APC has decided to arraign CJN Onnoghen on criminal charges.

He opined that the APC wants to “destroy” the Nigerian judiciary ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He added that the plan by the FG to arraign the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen on criminal charges on Monday was to intimate the judiciary.

7. Atiku-Obu Campaign Organization Warns Gov. Obiano to Stop Campaigning for Buhari

The Atiku-Obi Campaign Organization, has warned the Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, to stop campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection.

The DG of the group, Dr. Harry Oranezi, sounded this warning at a press conference in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Saturday.

The group said Obiano’s support for Buhari ran “counter to the collective and corporate interests of the Igbo.”

The group’s reaction followed recent comments credited to Obiano wherein he stated that Buhari had done well for the South-East and South-South geopolitical zone for commencing work on the second Niger Bridge.

8. We’ve Herdsmen/Farmers Crisis Under Control – Brigade Commander

The Brigade Commander, 23 Brigade, Yola, Brig. Gen. Bello Muhammad, has announced that his command had succeeded in bringing clashes between herdsmen and farmers in Adamawa and Taraba States under control.

Muhammad said this on Saturday in Yola during the annual West African Social Activities organized by the command.

According to him, “The brigade has successfully curtailed the crisis between the herdsmen and farmers in Adamawa and Taraba States through the conduct of Ex Ayem Akpatuma.

“Similarly, the brigade successfully checkmated the activities of cattle rustling through the conduct of operation Kwanan daji and synergy with cattle dealers association”, the Brigade Commander added.

9. Atiku Applauds Borno Elders for Rejecting Release of ‘Repentant’ Boko Haram Terrorists

The presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has commended the stance of the Borno Elders Forum that President Buhari should stop the practice of releasing so called `repentant’ Boko Haram terrorists.

Abubakar in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by his media aide, Mr Paul Ibe, said that he agrees with the elders.

Abubakar said that he was vindicated, because he too had given the same advice to the president twice in 2018.

According to him, “It makes no military or practical sense to release hardened terrorists, who have taken the precious lives of members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, on the flimsy excuse that they have been de-radicalised or repentant.’’

10. Identity of Man Who Wrote the Petition Against Justice Walter Onnoghen Unveiled

The identity of the man who allegedly wrote the damning petition against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, has been revealed.

According to online information about Mr. Dennis Aghanya, he was a media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari between 2009 and 2011.

Accoring to the reports, Aghanya is not new to controversy, as he was said to have once advised the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, to dissolve the party’s warring two factions in Enugu State since they couldn’t seem to agree on anything.
