CONVID-19: Most of The Information Provided on Turkish Airline’s Forms Are Inaccessible And False – Lagos State Government

The Lagos State government has said it was monitoring 349 people in the State over coronavirus.

The first case is a 44-year-old Italian, who came to Nigeria via Turkish Air who has been quarantined in Yaba Disease Control Hospital.

According to the Health Commissioner Akin Abayomi, those being monitored are from arrivals from endemic countries.

In a video released on his Twitter on Saturday, he said the state government is doing enough to identify those the Italian had come in contact with en route his trip to Nigeria

“One confirmed case identified. 50 new samples collected for analysis. 349 Persons of interest from endemic countries under follow up.”

Giving an update on the Italia, Abayomi said he still secreting the viruses; meaning he will still have to be in isolation until he becomes negative to the test that identified the virus.

“That will mean that he will no longer be contagious and we may release him back into the community

He further said that the government is still performing some containment strategies. He noted that that the first thing was to identify all on the airline; the second is to identify al the contact he might have had in Nigeria.

After managing to identify all the contacts, Abayomi urged airline passengers to give out authentic information in order to avoid the virus from spreading, lamenting that the information most of them dropped was not accessible.

We are having some challenges, particularly with the airline. “Some contacts are with foreign numbers which are not accessible,” he stated.

A significant number of people have put false information on arrival which makes it impossible for us to reach these individuals.

Why appealing that the forms were made for passengers’ safety, the commissioner said they may not be aware that there was a positive case on the flight.
“Therefore it is important to be able to reach you so that if you develop symptoms so that we know exactly what it might be.

“So, it is your self-interest that you give us authentic information on these forms and it is your civil responsibility to fill out this information accurately.”
Giving out the information of the airline as TK 625 from Instanbukl to Lagos, the commissioner urged the passengers to call the official lines.
