Corruption Has Retarded Our Development, Spare No Corrupt Person, Buhari Charges EFCC

  • Buhari charged EFCC to go after the corrupt persons that have retarded the country’s problem.

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to redouble its efforts in the war against corruption.

The President, who was represented at the passing out parade of cadets of the EFCC Superintendent Course 8 from the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha on Saturday lamented that corruption has retarded development as well as dented the image of the country among the comity of nations.

The President, therefore, charged the commission to spare no one irrespective of their profile in the country in tackling corruption.

While stating that his administration had made significant progress in tackling corruption over the years, Buhari added that the scourge has brought embarrassment to Nigeria before the international community.

He therefore stated that his administration would not relent in the fight against corruption especially cybercrime and financial crimes, adding that his government would ensure that every corrupt person was brought to justice.

While telling the cadet that much is expected from in supporting the ongoing fight against corruption, he urged them to live above board.

As part of efforts to boost the war against corruption in Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has trained a total of 328 new investigative officers at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State.

“The training is to prepare them adequately ahead of their deployment as anti-graft investigators across the country.

“This colourful passing-out parade follows their completion of a year-long intensive training in the elite training institution,” he added.
