EFCC Official Arrests Shawarma Seller Over Alleged ₦1600 Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a lady, Mnena Anita Ato, owner of a food spot in Makurdi known as Star Sharwarma.

According to reports, an EFCC official identified as Hembafan Toryila made an order of N1500 at Star Sharwarma and she wrongly transferred N1,600.

It was reported that Ato who was expecting didn’t pay attention to the N1600 transferred by Toryila. 

When the customer demanded that her money be returned, Ato didn’t believe her until her bank statement confirmed N1600 was indeed paid by the woman.

She reached out to the woman to apologize for the misunderstanding, however she threatened to deal with her. She was soon arrested alongside her staff and taken to EFCC office in Markurdi. According to reports, her staff were soon released and she would be charged to court for fraud.
