I Am Not Aware of Social Media Bill – Lai Mohammed [Video]

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed,  has denied knowledge of Protection for Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill, popularly known as the social media bill.

The minister during an interview with Tim Sebastian of  Conflict Zone equivocally denied knowledge of the bill.

” Who is the author of that bill? I am not even aware of that bill. There is no such bill before the house. I can say it authoritatively,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Mohammed had during a press conference expressed support for the hate speech bill and social media bill.

The bill was sponsored by Senator Sani Musa who is representing Niger East Senatorial District.

Speaking on the case of abuse, he said security official investigated and found wanting have been dismissed from service and prosecuted.
