Wings of a dove addresses issues pertaining to the Northern girl child with a resounding tone of girl child activism.

It is salient that some parts of Northern Nigeria still adore traditions many see as regressive in the modern age. One of them is the issue of the Hausa girl child. While some are shipped to their husband’s house as early as fourteen, some others are maltreated and kept mum with the phrase ‘girls are meant to be but not heard’ coming into play.

Omoni Oboli who is quite known for speaking up on societal issues with a craving for talks about the girl child and women in general has followed on with this trend by releasing the Wings of a Dove movie.

The movie talks about two Northern young teenage girls who were shipped off to their husbands. Wings of a Dove seeks freedom and equality for the girl child.

It also stresses the need for the girl child to be educated and be capable of standing on their feet rather than relying on the husbands they’ve been ‘sold to’

The movie was shot in Kano and makes use of a perfect blend of Hausa, English and French Languages.

According to Omoni Oboli the movie will premiere on the 8th of February, 2018 in Los Angeles.

“If you live in LA let me see your hands up! You my darlings will be amongst the first people in the world to watch my film WINGS OF A DOVE. The official world premiere is on Friday Feb 8th at 8:30pm at Cinemark Baldwin Hills and XD Theater, 4020 Marlton Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90008.”, she wrote.
