Sealing Up of Sun Newspaper by EFCC Is A Travesty of Justice – Femi Fani-Kayode
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has described the sealing up of Sun Newspaper headquarters in Apapa, Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a shameful act, a travesty of justice and a perversion of decency.
Fani-Kayode, who is a staunch critic of the ruling government in a series of tweets lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he has again displayed “his utter contempt for human rights, civil liberties and the rule of law.”
It could be recalled that the anti-graft agency stormed the headquarter of the newspaper with a seal notice telling those in the building to start packing up as they will come back to seal the building totally.

The act has gotten condemnation from different quarters due to the affiliation of the newspaper to former Abia Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu who recently bag twelve years in jail for an alleged fraud of N7.3bn and his company was ordered to be forfeited to the Federal Government.

My columns in the Sun Newspaper and Daily Telegraph were stopped 2 years ago after the Villa asked Orji Kalu to do them that favour. Today the same Govt. that he did that “favour” have jailed him &sealed up the Sun.Moral of the tale: tyrants have no friends & cannot be appeased.

The sealing up of Sun Newspaper by @officialEFCC is a shameful act, a travesty of justice and a perversion of decency. I wholeheartedly condemn it. By this petty and wicked act Buhari has again displayed his utter contempt for human rights, civil liberties and the rule of law.

I read @samomatseye‘s column in @TheNationNews today where he criticised @MobilePunch for their celebrated editorial. If Sam really believes that this is a democracy where freedom of expression, the rule of law& the separation of powers exist then he is not as bright as I thought.
