Fulani Herdsmen’s Weapon Supplier Nabbed in Enugu

Luck always runs out for the wicked and it did for one Alhaji Samaila Garuba. The suspect was nabbed by The Enugu police for being the major supplier of weapons to armed Fulani herdsmen who operate in the south-east region.

The suspect met his waterloo when an armed herdsman who had earlier been arrested by the Enugu State police mentioned him as the major gun supplier for the dreaded Fulani herdsmen operating in Enugu state and its environs.

Alhaji Samaila Garuba, the alleged weapon supplier is being held by the Enugu state police command and is reported to be cooperating with the police.

Enugu state had been among the worst hit in the south-east by the Fulani herdsmen terrorist – Many farmers in Nsukka are still afraid of approaching their farms after deadly attacks by the herdsmen.

According to Mr. Ebere Amaraizu who is the spokesperson of the Enugu state police command, a herdsman, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu, who was arrested in Udi area of Enugu state in possession of a loaded AK-47 rifle, on 29th August, named Garuba as the man who sold him the weapon.

After Ibrahim Adamu had named Alhaji Samaila Garuba as the weapons supplier, the police had been on the look out for him. The search for the suspected arms dealer, however, yielded fruit when on Tuesday he was nabbed at a moto park in Enugu.

Police Spokesman Mr. Ebere Amaraizu is quoted as saying:

“The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force through its operatives of the 9th Mile Division, today, 6th December, 2016, nabbed a suspected notorious gun runner who allegedly supplied AK-47 rifle to one herdsman, Ibrahim Adamu, earlier arrested by the Command.

“The Suspect who gave his name as one Alhaji Samaila Garuba, aka Bakassi, was earlier implicated by Ibrahim Adamu as the one that sold the AK-47 rifle to him.

“Garuba escaped when he got the information about the arrest of Ibrahim Adamu.

“His luck however ran out when intelligence information by the operatives paid off as he was trailed to a motor park situated at 9th Mile in Enugu early this morning, where he was nabbed after several efforts by him to escape.”

The Enugu state police spokesperson  also confirmed that the suspect is providing useful information to the police as regards the activities of other armed Fulani bandits in the state.
