Guardiola Admits He Cannot Win Outside Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has admitted to not being the world’s best manager anymore. He conceded that even though he has at some time being regarded as the finest football manager, he no longer holds that position.

He believes that in spite of the number of trophies he can lay claims to, there are now better managers than himself.

The Spanish gaffer has enjoyed outstanding successes throughout his managerial career, a testimony clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now Manchester City can attest to.

He’s now racked up a total of eight League titles during spells at Spain, Germany and England along with two Champions League trophies during his time at Barcelona.

In spite of bagging all these trophies, Guardiola doesn’t agree he should be described as being at the top of his career line, insisting that he can only win silverware because he is managing a brilliant side like Man City.

When suggested to him that he is the best manager in the world, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss told SkySports:

“I was,” before taking a step back to admit that he never once considered himself to be the very best.

“What is the best coach in the world?” he added. “I never felt I am the best, never in my life.

“When I won six titles in a row in Barcelona and won trebles, I never felt that. I won because I had extraordinary players at big clubs.

“There are incredible managers, they don’t have these players, they don’t have these big clubs. I’m a good manager but not the best.

“Give me a team that is not like Manchester City, I am not going to win.”

The Spanish boss was also full of praise for Europe’s defending Champions, Premier League runaway leaders and world champions, Liverpool who he described as the best team on the planet.

He attributes their successes to the process that has gone down at the Merseyside outfit since Klopp became manager in 2015.
