Igbos Desire Referendum, Not Restructuring- MASSOB

The Movement for the Realisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB have rejected calls for restructuring saying only the gains of a referendum can benefit the Igbo. In recent times, the calls for a breakaway state of Biafra championed by IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has gained momentum with notable leaders of Igbo origin lending their support to the cause.

The MASSOB hinged their calls for referendum on the lack of trust and disharmony which has spread among the various ethnic groups in the country owing to some peculiar recent events.

However, the apex Igbo sociocultural group Ohanaeze Ndigbo has maintained its stance on the unity of the country. More so, the group urged the FG to do more to make people from their region happy as they constitute the second largest ethnic group in the country.
